El Mayor - Windsor

There are many middle-eastern choices in Windsor, they all do well and successful, so choosing a best one out of the bunch is kinda tough. El Mayor is one of the good ones, but their dishes sometimes miss that extra touch, extra spice of flavour for some reason. I have been there so many times, for breakfast, lunch and dinner..service is okay, average..but the food is a hit and miss based on my experience. I have tried most of their menu items, recommend the kafta, shawarma and fish items. In terms of appetizers, the kibbi Nayye is the best in town in my opinion, along with many other tasty options (appetizers). One major turn off for this place is their ventilation system. Anytime that a customer orders a fish dish, the place will be filled with fish frying smell and smoke. It has happened almost every time I been there. So you leave the place smelling like fish, NOT good! But overall, good place

Great restaurant. We eat here every time we come to Windsor. Fantastic food and good service. Large bbq platter to share is our usual go to. Have been numerous times over the years.

Never a bad meal, staff always friendly. Can't beat a chicken shawarma sandwich and there hand cut French fries for lunch. For dinner we always eat family style and choose several dishes to share. Never leave hungry and the price is so good for families. Have to try there house made fruit drinks or fresh squeezed orange juice or lemonade. Yum! Make sure to leave room for deserts they are a must try.

My Boss and I went to El Mayor for lunch, we asked for a lunch special, the waitress said okay, she will bring us something good and not expensive, we ate, the food was just okay, nothing great, the bill was $65.00, we got ripped Off, I suggest you stay away from this place as its a rip off, the owners are crooks. Other Arabic places to eat that won't rip you off.

Ordered for delivery. Got the mix platter for two, tabule and side hummus. Mix platter included chicken tawook, beef kabob and kofta. Kofta and kabob were pretty good, but the chicken tawook was very tender and flavourful. The fattoush salad and tabule were great, and the hummus was fresh and real!! So good. Only suggestion I would make... use less oil!
