This is no place for a rushed meal, if you want a real full-on experience, give it at least two hours, but probably even a bit longer. The dishes on the menu are traditional and produced with lovely local produce. Their platters of cheeses, cold cuts and other apetizers are not too be missed at the start with a glass or two of sparkling wine. If you are a polenta lover, this place will feel like heaven, they offer it in many different ways, including polenta al latte, a nostalgic childhood meal for many. If in the area and ready for a leisurely weekend meal, this is the place to come enjoy Italy in Switzerland.

Best to go with the chef’s surprise menu, a great offering of many local ingredients presented in imaginative, fun ways. The wine list is as extensive as it should be and if you are a fan of Merlot, the local options will certainly satisfy you. If not, then one can never go wrong with a Tuscan highlight.The front of the house also deserves a lot of praise for making the meals a truly memorable experience. And I am sure that head chef Federico Palladino will keep on surprising his guests with wonderful dishes and unforgettable Ticinese evenings.

The salmon trout with risotto was a real delight and a surprisingly big portion considering Swiss standards. Serving strawberries with a balsamic vinegar sauce and ice cream is a refreshingly great idea.

The food was excellent, especially the cheek with risotto but also their house hamburger and the ultimate Swiss specialty, the truly golden brown Zürcher geschnetzelltes. The hotel/restaurant is also located right on the main square so it’s an easy access before or after the sightseeing in this truly gem of a town.
