We did not have reservations but they were able to squeeze us in as we arrived early at We started off our meal with bread olive oil, bruschetta, and...Pinot Grigio. We are American and our server spoke well enough English so serve us wonderfully! My husband had lamb chops which were perfect! I had the seafood linguini in a light tomato sauce and it was absolutely wonderful! For our toddlers we got all of them the shrimp spaghetti in a light white wine sauce and it was also delicious! Overall our food and serve was absolutely perfect. We can not recommend this restaurant enough! It was really packed by the time we left so if you don't have young kids like us and turn in early then I would say reservations are necessarily and well worth it!

But nevermind, it is the food that count plus, this gave me an opportunity to blend in with the Bavarians rather than sitting alone on my business trip at a table. The food was really fantastic! Waiters and the owner (Giuseppe) are very helpful and "sympatisch". Although I had to wait for the main course longer than expected, never mind it was because the place was loaded, and that is very obvious as they serve such good food in a very friendly and hospitable atmosphere. This is definitely a must go in Vaterstetten or if you are in the neighbourhood. Do not forget to make a reservation or do not make a reservation if you like to improvise and have a chance to meet locals. Whenever I will return to Vaterstetten, I will definitely return to il' Carretto and meet Giuseppe and his team again.

Hat er aber groß zügiger Weise behalten. Wir sind da nicht so pingelig. Doch hat uns der selbstgefällige Wirt für dumm verkauft und es so hingedreht, als ob mein Mann genau das Gewünschte auf dem Teller hätte. Das Bier war sehr schlecht eingeschenkt. Das wird wohl in München so üblich sein. Die Bedienung war nett. Urige Einrichtungen, doch leider keine Freundlichkeit vom Wirt. Nach dem Motto ihr kommt ja eh nicht wieder Was leider nicht stimmte, gerne wäre wir öfters gekommen, weil wir im sehr netten Hotel gegenüber für 5 Nächte wohnten. Sehr schade und sehr enttäuschend.

But as my friend said, when you've had enough Schnitzel and Schweineshaxe and the like, this makes for a superb diversion. This isn't your run of the mill sweet and sour pork place but authentic Asian cuisine.
