05.08.2024 - 10:24Felt like something was off with this restaurant, it was empty on a Friday night at 7pm. Our drinks took longer to come out than our salads, we both ordered slightly dirty martinis, they were very salty almost like they used salt water and not olive brine, we asked for 3 olives in our martinis and they brought out a bowl of pitted multicolored olives, I had to ask if they had cocktail olives by the time they came out our drinks were almost finished. Menu is limited and the Food was ok, nothing spectacular, very salty and saucy. Its a one and done for us.

20.01.2024 - 01:31Since they opened, Asterid has been serving by far the best food we've had anywhere in Downtown LA. Always inventive, delicious, reliable, and beautiful, with friendly, helpful service and a lovely setting both indoors and out. You must try the thick, meaty maitake mushroom prepared in a totally unique way, the chicken that rivals Zuni in San Francisco, and the succulent lamb shank, among everything else really. It should really be difficult to get a reservation here any night, though this area of downtown by the Disney Concert Hall, Broad contemporary museum and Ahmanson Center Theater Group tends to be hopping only during concerts and shows, then strangely quiets down. But this is one of our go-to special occasion spots, or just a pop downtown for a great evening out restaurant. Live music outside most Thursdays too.

14.10.2023 - 17:08I was sat the bar beside the ONLY two other patrons ! The fish was undercooked and had to be returned. Other than that the rest was fine.

19.09.2023 - 15:44As the resto is situated in an exclusive gated hotel, getting here is quite a challenge. Had to go through a series of checkpoints, and had to be escorted driven to the restaurant itself. Food, the very reason we checked this out, is impeccably amazing, especially the fatty (and very fatty) tuna belly I forgot for a sec that it was a fish — that’s how creamy it is. I am a big fan of gindara so I ordered that as an entree. Delicious. I get that it is in an expensive hotel so prices are sky high. I’ve been to many other similar places that offer equally fresh sashimi and gindara, at half (or significantly lower) prices, so value for money is not that great here. I guess, a good sashimi is a good sashimi, as long as the fish is fresh. Think about Tsukiji market for that matter. But then again, this is Aman, so I guess the price is right — it’s relative after all to its other offerings.
