The service, ambiance, and location a... leer más An absolutely perfect vacation in a former Gilded Age mansion that plays host to a two-star restaurant from Daniel Boulud. The service, ambiance, and location are beyond superb. General Manager (Steve Benson) could not do enough for us, Front desk manager (Gabriel) was the epitome of European style. We stayed in the Ice House, a perfectly cozy two-bedroom cottage that oozes charm and quaint woodsy decor. We all agreed the experience could not be improved, from a fireplace set for an afternoon, the Boulud restaurant that is unimaginably good. The grounds were delightful to traipse around and we saw a flock of wild turkeys just to make the experience even more enchanting.

We were given a private room a... leer más What a pleasant surprise we had at the Bistro at Blantyre! I mentioned we were celebrating a big birthday for my wife and guests. We were given a private room attached to the Bistro and enjoyed an outstanding meal. Service was excellent. My only minor quip would be that I ordered a bottle of wine. The server poured the entire bottle for 4 people.....that 's a no, no. They should have poured 3/4 of the bottle and left some for topping off. I understand that servers are motivated to sell a 2nd bottle but that would a bit too obvious. And we 're not big drinkers and wouldn 't have ordered a 2nd bottle anyway. The food was delicious and the 1 recommended dessert with 4 assorted pastries was perfect for sharing. Overall, a very impressive experience!

I begin by being ashamed to have lived in the area for most of my life, yet, somehow CC slipped by... until tonight. Tucked away in a little corner of the Mansion District, in the shadow of the Corning Tower (parking can be a challenge, but oh so worth the effort), there is a very good reason why CC consistently wins highest marks in so many annual Best Of reviews. Our intimate date night began with a perfect martini, segueing to a wedge salad with house-made gorgonzola dressing and lardons. For the main, I chose a house specialty, fresh-made tagliatelle pasta with squid ink sauce and fresh brined and grilled octopus, a taste sensation the likes of which I won 't soon forget. Service was attentive, knowledgeable, but never imposing. We left fully satisfied in every sense, with a promise to return soon. Do not let this one pass you by.
