30.03.2023 - 19:05Good selection of drinks. The wine menu has selected vegan options. Beautiful mushroom pate star, said server we were vegan and before the starter they brought bread and butter (which she was informed us was vegan.) I ordered the Risotto main, which was definitely not very tasteful, so I found myself giving it a decent dose of salt and pepper. Boyfriend ordered the sausage and mash, they brought it with a beautiful part of the veg on the side. We're both sure they were the Linda McCartney sausages, he doesn't like them, but he enjoyed the rest of it. I then ordered the vegan version of Affagato a word. Very nice! (Vegan vanilla ice cream, single espresso and biscotti.) Just £50 without service tip. 1 X starter, 2 X net and a dessert. Overall, excellent service beautiful meal, good drinks. Brilliant time, but only 4 stars due to the close tasteless risotto. Would order something else again.

29.01.2023 - 05:12Been before and enjoyed it but tonight was not the same standard by any means. A shame because I took family on my recommendation. Service was friendly but not organised at all. Food was not as good as previous visits. Would normally recommend people but after tonight no.

31.12.2022 - 09:25Had a great Scottish breakfast here when I visited Edinburgh to catch up with an old friend. The shop is cozy, the service is very nice and attentive, and both the coffee and the breakfast were cooked with love. I forgot to take a photo of the breakfast itself, but it has 1 slice of toast, an egg with orange yolk(I'm more used to the yellow yolks, love the orange one more), baked beans, a sausage, a slice of non fatty bacon, and a slice of haggis and another of black pudding. I'm not a fan of the latter 2, but I tried both anyway.

27.12.2022 - 23:47This was my second visit to The Riversedge and again it didn't disappoint. A really excellent cafe hidden away, but on a main road through Hawick, on the banks of the river Teviot. Serves a great selection of food, including some traditional Scottish dishes. Caters for all foodie choices. Really friendly service. They also have deli to the front of the building and sell a great selection of local Arts and Crafts. From a purely selfish point of view I hope it remains Hawicks best kept secret!

08.12.2022 - 08:35We had the BBQ and hotpot buffet. The food was nice. The service was ok. However when selected more food to come out there wasn't enough so had to ask for more

16.06.2022 - 08:53Our final night in Kirkcudbright ended on a high note, with a sumptuous meal at Auld Alliance. The restaurant is well appointed and has a small but tantalising menu. We received a warm welcome and shortly after being seated, a bottle of water was brought...to the table. My wife chose the Moroccan Vegetable Tagine for her starter. It looked a picture when it arrived and the taste matched the appearance. I ventured for the Salmon Tart, which was equally pretty in appearance and just as much a match in taste. My main course was the Pork Loin, whilst my wife had the Cullen Skink Gratin. Both dishes were a work of art and each mouthful was a flavour explosion on the palate. Cooking at its best. A nice bottle of Chardonnay was an excellent accompaniment. I would have loved to have the Cheeseboard to follow but my meal was so filling that I really needed to have something lighter and therefore enjoyed a delicious Lemon Posset. By contrast, three assorted Galloway Ice Creams went down well with my wife. We had a superb evening, eating fine food, which was beautifully presented and service throughout was exemplary. The only thing I would improve and this is purely my personal taste, is to have much thicker seat pads on the chairs. Many thanks to Will Gill for his fantastic food and his two hard working waitresses, who worked tirelessly throughout. Your restaurant provided the perfect end to our holiday.
