I ordered the poached eggs for breakfast, accompanied by a side of mushroom ragu, and it was absolutely delicious! I’m curious about the ingredients in those mushrooms! I also really enjoyed the eggplant relish on the side; it added a nice touch to the meal. It was a truly unique breakfast experience. I wanted to try the pickled Bloody Mary, but I learned it was from the previous owners. I’d love to see a pickled version on the menu!
We were warned about the wait time, so it wasn’t surprising to see a line when we arrived at 5:55 PM. What did catch us off guard was the blacked-out windows and minimal signage; had we not known it was there, we might have completely overlooked it. This added an intriguing allure to the place. As we entered the narrow hallway, we found ourselves third in line, with two groups in front of us and two behind. The staff informed us there would be a 5-minute wait for the first group, 10 minutes for the second, and a 15-minute wait for us. We appreciated the heads-up, and no one seemed to mind waiting—there was plenty to explore on the walls and tucked away around us. As suggested by the server, we grabbed some drinks from the bar and settled in for our turn. Our Pink Lemonades came in large brandy glasses; they were very lemony but quite delightful. Time flew by, and soon enough, we were shown to our table. Our friends were eager to sample everything, so we ordered two servings of Mozzarella Skins, two servings of Cherry Smoked Wings with Bourbon Glaze, Chili Con Queso Hot Cheese Dip with Corn Tortilla Chips, Slap Ya Mama Fried Chicken with Ranch, Chipotle Corn, a Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich with Salad, American Cheddar Chipotle Mayo Fries, a 120g Brisket, and a full rack (1kg) of Pork Ribs. We also planned to order the Dessert Special of Cherry Pie, but our friends opted to order theirs later. We tried a bit of everything, and it was all quite tasty. My only complaint was that the fries were very thin and a bit dry—I would have preferred chips, but given the American theme, fries were expected. We kept eating, dipping, sharing, and tasting, trying to save some room for dessert. Eventually, one friend decided to order the Cherry Pie, but while she was in line, the waitress came by to confirm our order, mentioning they only had two slices left, both of which were already requested. My friend was disappointed to miss out on the pie. We decided to order extra spoons and shared what was left. We appreciated that they offered a take-away container for our leftovers, as we didn’t want to waste anything, despite only having a few scraps left. We kept an eye on the entrance all night, amazed at how many people continued to arrive. Even as we left, there were still people lining up. We all walked away feeling extremely full; in fact, I was so stuffed the next day that I couldn’t even eat breakfast. We will definitely make a return visit—this place is absolutely worth it!
Awesome in every way food is great, service fantastic and decor really interesting. Just drop the eftpos surcharge build it into your food prices annoying and unnecessary. And from Sept 1 this year new rules kick in for this practice.
Starting its life as a popular Food Truck, Sneaky Pickle found a permanent home in Kings Park. This iconic truck has gathered a huge following, selling out at every event with lines as long as can be. When I first found out it wasn’t anywhere north of the city line like everybody else, I rejoiced. It’s actually located in a row of quiet shops shortly before Cross Road. The front of the shop is painted green and the windows are all blacked out. It’s all very mysterious, initially I wasn’t even sure it was open!
