Pok-E-Jo's was and is still my place for BBQ when I'm in the office. It is definitely great to be back to the restaurant after all the months of work from home. For this visit I ordered 2-meat combo with brisket and pork ribs. The brisket is absolutely delicious (soft and delicate) and its pork ribs are also fabulous with meat falling from the bone easy. In addition, the spicy BBQ sauce, which also offers nice to go with the meat. Oh, and for the two sides, I went for potato salad and broccoli; very delicious and also good with the brisket and ribs. A great place for BBQ.
Good grill. I had the 2 meat plate with brisket, beef sausage, broccoli salad and pinto beans. The brisket was delicate and a good cut that had the charred bark with good smokey taste. The sausage was tender and delicious. The beans blew a little, but had large amounts of pork. Broccoli salad was delicious. Fast friendly service makes it welcoming. Although the service was good, I would not go my way to go back, but I would return if I were in the mood and in the area.
I'm from Idaho, so if I'm in Austin, I'm trying to eat BBQ. It was my first time to eat here. I said that to the guy at the switch and he gave my friend and I a large sample plate of 5 or 6 different meats. We both chose the 2-meat plate. Comes with 2 pages. My friend has corn and beans. I chose corn and a drink, both with ribs and brisket. All excellent! Except my friend said the beans were meh. I'll go back to Austin next time!
Such good food, I've loved eating here for 15+ years. My favorite is the chopped brisket sandwich. Their prices are higher now, by a noticeable amount. It used to be a pretty affordable, almost cheap, meal. Not anymore. Family meal for four cost me $70 which is akin to a normal sit down restaurant. But honestly, I don't mind paying higher prices since their food is good and I hope they stay in business.
