Mercury Cafe - Kitchener

I did not have high hopes for this place as it is located in an office tower and appeared to be a simple cafeteria...How wrong was I? The scones are simply superb. They frequently have savoury scone options...red pepper and goat cheese and cheddar & chive. I love savoury scones and these two flavours are nothing short of flavour bombs! The only sweet scone I recall is cranberry. They are so flavourful, a bit crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside. Just delish! I am not big on buying breakfast, but if I have purposely forgotten to walk with my breakfast to eat one of the scones. The muffins are very nice, but the one I had was a bit too sweet and actually was not the flavour I thought it was (asked for almond but, got cranberry). Everything is baked on site, so there is a lot of talent in that little kitchen!The sandwiches are good, but the fries are crispy, salty and taste like they have a bit of vinegar somewhere in them. I very much enjoy the fries. With the sandwiches, I just wished they used a different bread because it does not do the meat justice. Food presentation is simple and clean.The service is good. Friendly and casual. I am a frequent flyer there.You can also collect points, which accumulate after about 5 purchases to a free coffee, then go up to movie passes in the building.The only thing I do not like is the seating...it is very old, looks dark and dingy, and half the seats are near a window leading to a courtyard and are freezing. This is what brings the rating down to a 4/5.This is more of a take out option than a dine in, but definitely worth going to for breakfast or lunch.

The staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Their daily specials are always amazing. Pizza Fridays are a particularly enjoyable experience, where you can have a freshly made personal pizza just for you.

Came here with a Groupon and I can't remember when I had a sandwich this good. Prices were very reasonable and coffee was great too.

at the cozy cafe or picking up a pastry to go. The atmosphere is welcoming and the service is top-notch. I highly recommend this restaurant for a delicious and enjoyable dining experience.
