Luna - LAKE PLACID

Update: we notified the server of a severe gluten allergy and we had to bring our friend to the emergency room. When we called to notify the restaurant they dodged us and said “how do you know it was our food?”The food was great but the service was lacking. The hostess didn’t want to seat us even though there were open tables. She vaguely said to come back in 20-25 minutes and said she couldn’t take our names down. Luckily there were bar chairs available so we chose to sit there. We noticed every party got seated after us and when we asked to move to an open table the hostess said she had to ask if there was a reservation even though she couldn’t take a reservation from us. Luna Restaurant is a small restaurant in the village of Lake Placid. We recently dined there for the second time and the food and service were just as good as the first time we went two years ago. The marinara sauce is delicious! The portions are generous too.Food: 5/5

Second visit and very enjoyable. Both times we have been here the service has been excellent. Very friendly, very fast. We had two of the specials baked seafood and chicken with mozzarella and red peppers on pasta. Both dishes were great and good sized portions. They also bring out warm bread with a garlic/olive oil dip and provide a salad as well. Generous pours when you order a glass of wine. Luna continues to be on our list of restaurants we regularly visit when we come to Lake Placid.

Worth the short wait for our group. -This is the best spot in lake placid. Just the oil seasoning with the fresh bread is worth the price of admission. It’s unbelievable. Add a pinch of salt to the oil. The steak special with a red wine sauce was out of control. The short ribs made us want to order a second to go. The pasta sauces and even the meatballs were to die for. Service was spectacular. We picked one spot to go out during this trip and Luna was it. Wouldn’t think twice about the decision. Food was disappointing as well as the menu. I had a burger and fries, and the burger was very okay. The fries tasted like fries oil with some structure.The other complaint I have is this was not what we were expecting when we saw Mediterranean food (typically we expected hummus and pita when we think Mediterranean food). I would not call it Mediterranean but American food.
