The Naan and Chutneys were amazing as my lamb shell
India Gate is my favorite Indian restaurant in Lisbon. My partner and I have ordered takeout from there probably 10 times in the past year or so. Today, I brought a couple of friends to the restaurant for my first dine-in experience. The decor is quite nice, although having the television on with depressing news in the background is a downer while dining out. The food served was as delicious as ever. We ordered some of my favorite dishes: Chilli Chicken, Saag Paneer, Lamb Curry, Samosas, and Butter Naan. The surprise came when we received the bill. There was a fee for condiments that I had never been charge for before. Thinking this was an error, I asked the manager/owner about it. He said that the fee was added to help offset the $2.50/per person charge that The Fork charges him for the reservation. On principle, my friends and I found this tactic to be appalling and reprehensible. He suggested that I call directly for reservations next time. Unfortunately, for the three of us, there may not be a next time.
The Lamb Samosa. I would say you can literally swallow those...They are like butter....I loved it.The Indian Offering at this restaurant is genuine to club it with a few local wines. The Dal is simply a home made delight. The kulfi is great as a dessert.
Recomendo imenso!
Awesome food. Very delicious and the place serves you with a lot of warmth. Attentive staff and they turn around requests quick. They ensure you have a smile when you leave. Loved the bhajiyas, dal makhni, paneer masala , chole etc authentic indian taste is a highlight for sure
