This restaurant is a great spot for delicious Thai cuisine. The customer service is also excellent.
I really enjoyed the taste of the Penang curry with a plentiful serving of beef. The roti and peanut sauce were also fantastic. The prices are very affordable, making it great value for money. It is possible to bring your own alcohol for a corkage fee of $5 per person. The staff are friendly and laid-back.
In search for a new restaurant, a friend of mine and I walked up and down Swan Street, and eventually took the corner and found this place. It looked nice, so we went in. Honestly, the reviews on Zomato looked promising. The waiter greeted us, and we sat down. Table was set nicely. The waiter approached us, and took our Drink order. My friend looked at the Expensive Cocktails and asked the waiter 'what can he recommend ' and what are some sweet ones. The waiter seemed to be guessing, so I asked him Have u tasted any? . He said no, and continued to pour the water. Honestly, its better to say you havent tasted any, and go by what people have often ordered .....instead of guessing. Dont just guess when someone asks you to recommend a drink. My friend and I discussed the cocktails, as our drink waiter was unqualified. She was leaning toward Espresso Martini but I suggested, with all the food we are likely to order, you might get full quicker, maybe something unique and a Sabai Specialty, so....she decided to go with the SABAI JAI, as the flavors seem to be subtle but also its going to look beautiful with Edible Flowers. She was so excited....but.....then when it came. It was so bad, i took a photo. I asked the other waiter, who we believe was the manager. At first he said no, its edible flower syrup . I said why does it say edible flowers then . He said oh, we ran out . So basically, he lied. She was NOT happy. When asked if we wanted to reorder, she didnt want to waste it, but she wasnt impressed. Entree She got the Squid, and I got the Roti and Satay sauce. Presentation was impressive, roti was a tad oily. Outcome was good. Its hard to get a satay sauce right but they did a good job. While ordering the Mains, we noticed the Specials board. Would have been nice if they told us that they had Drink Specials and Entree Specials. Their Drink specials was a Lychee Mojito which I def would have got instead of a Hot Choc. By this stage, we realised that their staff were completely unqualified and paying $89 all up....for 2 ppl....you would expect better service. Mains She ordered a 4hr Beef Rib. Pic is attached. Sauce was yum. I dont eat beef but she enjoyed and said the beef is done well. The sauce however was not bad but, quite filling. It stated on menu, that it had Thai Eggplant, but no joke there was No Eggplant of any kind. We also ordered a Stir Fry, it wasnt bad but when we asked to make it spicy, it seemed that went out the other ear. We also ordered Jasmine Rice. Conclusion We paid $89 for 2 ppl. Unhappy with service, lack of English from one of the waiters, lack of waitering knowledge, Failure to give honest recommendations regarding drinks. No edible flowers in a drink that has only 3 ingredients which includes edible flowers. No Vegetables in the Beef Rib Curry despite it saying it does. Its Richmond, a multicultural hub.....wouldn 't hurt to hire different people. Personally its nice that our waiter was Thai.....but like....he obviously didn 't understand us and we enjoyed it when he wasn 't around talking as none of what he said was honest. Final Say: For what we paid, we expect the dishes we read in the menu, to come out as their written. Missing ingredients happened 3 times. We wont be coming back, but we will next time try the Thai Place that doesn 't look that nice 2 doors down. Not happy with service.
Ambience: the upper floor feels a bit lifeless, but could be just due to COVID rules. Staff: super friendly, quick, and attentive. Food: my pad thai was a slight disappointment. Nothing wrong with it but reading the reviews I was expecting a level up. Huge portions.
