Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónThe vegetarian antipasto is vegan and was delicious and satisfying. I also had a salad with sesame oil on the side, which was good. There is a small selection of vegan and veg makizushi reels and a large selection for Pescatarians. The restaurant is on the second floor and the street side of its outdoor dining room has a view of the lively commercial street scene. We were lucky and have a place right next to the railing, and double luck that nature put on a fourfold rainbow during our meal! (See photo of our table.
The menu was hard to decrypt when looking for the vegan options. Luckily, I had read other reviews from JD on Happy Cow, so I knew what I was looking for. The atmosphere was open and airy, but crowded and very loud, so conversations with the Waitstaff were limited. There was really no opportunity to discuss what they could create for a vegan who wasn't already on the menu. I regretted not trying the Primavera pizza, but the Beyond Burger was well cooked. I asked for a salad package instead of the bungalow and received 2 thin salad slices. I added onion and avocado, but the Bermuda onion was cut thick and a bit bitter and the avocado was not cut, but mashed and seemed watery. Burger $17, avocado $3, salad $2, onion $2. A little expensive for a burger. I didn't know it came with French fries or I would have replaced if possible, but they were thin fries, well cooked. Find Provincetown so far not particularly friendly for vegans.
I have the one beyond burger and they also had vegan cheese for it! Come back here. You also had pizza w daiya and vegan sushi options
Primavera with onions, peppers and mushrooms was simple and tasteful. The vegan cheese melted and had a nice fine taste.
JD's is a study in contrasts. While it appears to be a simple pizza place, it is so much more, serving fish and more complex entrees for our non-vegan friends and family. From the street the upstairs restaurant appears much smaller than it really is. And lastly, the staff is purely professional, polite and competent, not what you expect from the pizza joints around town. All pizzas can be made vegan. The hummus platter is delicious.
