Contribuir a la retroalimentaciónI was surprised by how good the Haina chicken isChicken is boneless and the meat is soft but tender.
Came her for lunch at around 1230 on a Friday when I suddenly craved some laksa.
I once gave this a 4 star review in 2013 What was true then, is no longer true today. The Hainanese Chicken with rice has gone sharply downhill.
This restaurant advertises itself as a Singaporean restaurant and is located in the Union Square mall.My spouse and I have been in this mall about 4 times the past couple of months to have lunch and had always walked by the Coco Hut restaurant. This time, we decided to come here for lunch. We arrived around 12:45 and there were about 10-12 customers in this 32 seat restaurant. We ordered the following to share:• 6 bbq satay skewers; 2 each of beef, chicken and pork accompanied with pickled carrots and daikon and a satay sauce ($9.45). You can order one dozen for $14.95.• Hainanese chicken with broth infused rice, clear broth soup, ginger onion dip and sweet chilli sauce ($8.25)• Char guey teow – flat rice noodles, sprouts, scrambled egg, 4 small/medium shrimp, sliced Chinese sausage ($8.95)The total bill with taxes came to $28.00 before the tip.The satay skewers were alright; just average with a nice tasting satay sauce. My spouse enjoyed the steamed chicken. I tried some of the rice that came with the chicken and it was very flavourful. The chilli sauce accompaniment was overly sweet. The flat rice noodle dish was nothing exciting but tasted okay. The prices for some dishes are comparable to some food court outlets. The food arrived in a timely manner but we had to ask for a tea refills and chilli sauce. For the vegetarians it looks like there are limited choices. Some of the vegetarian options I found included green onion pancakes, stir fried vegetables, satay tofu and roti.Ratings Breakdown:• Taste: average: 3 out of 5 rating• Portion size and value: 3.25 out of 5 rating• Service: 3 out of 5I would rate the overall food experience as average – 3.25 out of 5 rating.Notes & Tips:• Cash only• Wifi access• Compact menu with less choices compared to other restaurants• One unisex restroom. Wheelchair access would very difficult if not impossible – very narrow aisle, past the kitchen.• Lots of parking• We previously ate at the Deer Garden, Canton BBQ Restaurant and Hanppy Tofu Pot restaurant at this same mall.
