The lamb chops were by far one of the best meals ever! We also had the rainbow trout which was excellent. Their signature drink the strawberry lady, was one of the pretties presentations. The place is beautiful and so homey.
Wonderful experience! We placed our order at the tail end of the 4-6pm happy hour, and the cocktails were refreshing and strong. The Shrimp Grits were incredibly flavorful, while the Seared Florida Flounder was light yet filling. Our server was attentive, warm, and quick in taking our orders and getting our drinks/meals out to us. All in all, the vibe here is classy, welcoming, and eclectic, definitely spot-on for a more intimate Southern dining experience. Would recommend visiting for dates, drinks during their amazing happy hour promotion, or for anyone who wants some delicious Southern-style food.
Summer 2023 update: Tonight we went back to Root Bone (late July), not very crowded Saturday evening. I had the wedge salad which was very good, medium sized portion and the corn soufflé which was rich and decadent! My husband got the bone in pork chop which was cooked beautifully on the outer portions but was RAW around the bone, we pointed this out to the waiter and they offered us something else but it was late and we were tired and service had been a bit slow so we just wanted to finish and go home. Even though they apologized about the raw pork I was surprised when they did not take it off the bill or at least reduce the bill in any way. But, live and learn.Past posts below:This restaurant has improved a lot in the past year since I wrote a previous 3-star review so I thought I’d write an updated one.Today a friend and I went for lunch and were pleasantly surprised. The menu has finally changed although they’ve kept some good items like biscuits and shrimp and grits.Tuesdays they have half price bottles of wine after 4pm which was nice! We got grandmas biscuits which were excellent, deviled eggs which were also good, the salmon main course which was very good and the shrimp and grits which was huge and delish. I have left overs for dinner! They also have an amazing starter pumpkin soup that is amazing. Parking was easy because it was lunchtime, service was great and the seating outside was very nice and breezy. They have fans if it gets buggy. Will go back!
We ordered several appetizers the devil eggs were good but tiny eggs! The corn was delicious we had the whole fried chicken was very good but rather small chicken pieces. Our waiter was the best very knowledgeable about the menu and wine recommendations. Overall it was a good experience we were celebrating my daughter and son in law 13 th wedding anniversary with their (my granddaughters) children so it was a family dinner. I made last minute reservations via open table and was able to get a nice table indoors. I plan to go back again and try other menu items. And the old fashion I had after dinner was amazing !
The restaurant is so architecturally appealing and just grand and comfortable. You know when you walk in you are in a special place. We were there for Brunch and their specialty drinks are great, brunch entries and desserts are wonderful. We had Deviled Eggs, Biscuits, Avocado Toast, Chicken Waffles and Side of Mac and Cheese along with a Carrot cake to split. Service was professional and efficient and we had a perfect time. Thank you!
