Booked an evening meal and thoroughly thrilled. Food was light, delicious and filling, the service excellent and the tea menu phenomenal! Would come in daily if I didn’t live a 100 miles away and might just add to the commute anyway...
If you're looking for an authentic taste of Japan, Cha-ty will remind you of true Japanese cuisine, and that it's possible to enjoy the tastes and flavours of Japanese food in the UK, without breaking the bank. Lunch is excellent value for money, and I enjoyed a spicy vegetable curry with rice. You can also enjoy iced coffee without sugar or syrup. The Japanese owner of Cha-ty bakes her own delicious cakes, again a true taste of Japanese sweets and cakes. Having lived in Japan for 15 years I can vouch for the authenticity of the Japanese flavours and tastes of this cafe. So if you're missing Japanese style cuisine head over to Cha-ty in the Mumbles, South Wales.
Cha-ty is a wonderful little Japanese cafe with an extensive menu of teas and coffees from around the world. It is always a pleasant experience trying a new tea, and a slice of one of the delectable home made cakes makes for a perfect pairing. The food is always delicious too, with the salmon and avocado don buri being my favourite. The melon soda is also a real treat, as well as the Japanese beers. There is a nice selection of Japanese gifts and items to purchase too, including teas, snacks, confectionery, teapots and mugs, craft beers, books etc.
TBH we were a little disappointed with the extremely limited choice of food. What we had was ok but condiments on the table such as soy sauce and chilli sauce would have complemented the flavours. I had the miso soup (which was very good) and a rice dish of smoked salmon and avocado, the rice was crying out for some flavour. Hubby had a noodle dish. I would loved to have had a ramen or a curry but the ramen was served cold and the only curry was a vegetarian one. However, it is a lovely place and the two female staff were delightful. Will we call again? I suppose it very much depends on the menu.
