I don't say knowing much about Jamaican food. I was there a few times. But what I know is the best food on the island, how many places in the Caribbean are prepared for street stands and in private homes. That's it. This is the real thing made with fresh ingredients and lots of spice. This is island food best. The place is located right next to the University Fitness in the shopping center opposite the hospital. There is no sign yet. It has no decorations yet. It is a former takeout pizza place with 16 high back stools on high 4 tops and 8 singles along the walls. Everything is served in polyfoam containers with the assumption that most people take the food to go. Reggae music radiates on autopilot. It doesn’t feel like you’re in Florida, it feels like you’re going to a local dive in Ocho Rios or Montego Bay on vacation and you’ve given a tip where to eat real food from your taxi driver on the way from the airport. The menu leads the gamma of fried appetizers (the shrimps I saw, hits) and jerk (only on weekends, Friday and Saturday and Sunday) to home dishes such as Snapper and Curries as well as island style pastas. You can also do Ital Rastafarian style (vegan) food. It is a large menu for such a small place. So far I have only ordered the fried ruck wings (super wicy but really good, pepper is not a joke) and the shrimp curry with mixed veg (very nice, had okra in it and some beautiful sautéed cabbage) and the yellow rice (big with the curry). I also tried the Rootz Punch, which is sweet like a fruit stamp, but has some vegetable and bitter elements in it, like small floating pearls of Jamaican Allspice, completely different. Not that kind of herbs. The restaurant has a beer/wine license and has Jamaican beer for sale, but you need to drink it on the grounds. Owners and employees are super nice. You deserve your business. So if you're hungry for something else and don't be afraid of pepper, come over there.
I had curry shrimps with plantains and rice bears. The food was delicious and fresh. I wonder when I can get back! No sign, but it was worth looking.
The first time here... she found on Google usually go out on Jamaican pasta and high waiting times... Win them an attempt to order Got the Honey Hot Pasta ....must say it was good, made to order very hot pasta temperature, meat was not so, but feasible... View the menu Before I arrive there, I know something I want and price range, but unfortunately the prices online are wrong and much higher personally. They are a bit expensive on just over all their dishes, maybe their value it, I can't say they didn't try. But my court ordered was fine when the time comes I reorder, although I feel it's a bit expensive...
Drove all the way from Orlando 2x only for the Cajun Chicken Pasta. Soooooo is good. I'll be back soon.
