We were there two adults and one child in the evening to dinner; when you come in, the whole place feels rustic, warming and cozy. My wife is gluten intolerant and they had nothing on the menu that was directly gluten-free. without hassle and hassle (!) so the hostess came with suggestions about how she can ask the cook to change the court, which my wife wanted, to gluten-free. we ate and drank good. really good! it is not cheap for us Swedes to eat in Switzerland, and here it is not cheap, but not much more expensive than elsewhere that has less good service in this cosy village.
In this year was the first visit at the beginning of a fairytale. the very competent staff at the bar (French accent) was attentive, oysters/wine were perfect. the second visit two weeks later disappointed. the service (this time without the monsieur at the bar) was inattentive and clearly showed the lack of motivation. our oyster apero was not recommended during this visit. very bad.
Use to be my go to. there to watch the eruos play. seems since it was sold they don't hold the same crowd. or maybe it was the time of year? snooze. sorry!
Alas, Philippe - aka Cardinal Richelieu- is hanging up his shaker and moving on. The legendary establishment will no longer be the same, but he leaves behind a long lasting memory of wonderful evenings, tall stories, and new found friendships. He will be sorely missed. I wish you the best of luck in your new venture, old friend.
