“Chicken Fried Steak”.  Three words that, strung together, meant absolutely nothing to me before moving to the States.  Read “chicken-fried” as the modifier here and you get a beef steak that has been crumbed and fried (think southern fried chicken), usually served with eggs and gravy….eaten for breakfast.  At Granny B’s, it gets even better, with a blanket of Granny’s country-style gravy and crispy hashbrowns.  Plus a side of pancakes.

Great little hole in the wall! I am in love with the 85 pound grandma waitress who keeps every thing and everyone straight. Food has the magical ability to cure homesickness!
