Our family has been visiting El Sazón de Mita for years -- it is way off the beaten tourist path but it is our favorite breakfast in Mita! Cheaper and less touristy than the malecón restaurants, we keep going back for more.My husband and I love her authentic Mexican chilaquiles (verdes or rojos, and they come with a fried egg or shredded chicken). My youngest daughter loves to order a chocomilk, just like every smart Mexican kid (though I usually urge her to get a fresh squeezed orange juice instead). My older daughter always orders enchiladas...for breakfast, I know. It seems strange but nobody raises an eyebrow at El Sazón! The huevos a la mexicana are great, too! It's a typical Mexican breakfast/lunch restaurant. The prices are fantastic (MX$50 for chilaquiles, MX$90 for enchiladas, maybe MX$30 for OJ? I can't remember for sure) and the service is great. It's an easy (and fun) walk from the condos along the waterfront on Avenida Hidalgo (i.e.: Punta Vista, El Faro, El Farito). For lunch, my husband highly recommends trying out her fish tacos. He's quite the fish taco fan -- eats them everywhere he goes. He likes El Sazón's because they're lightly breaded and pan fried rather than deep fried, so they're crispy but not oily. He also loves the fruity (maybe mango?) sauce that comes with them -- they're not your typical baja fish taco style. Instead, they've got a tasty style all their own. MX$20 per taco -- he usually gets 3.El Sazón also takes orders over the phone in case you want your food ready when you arrive or if you want to grab takeout. Sorry I forgot to get her number while we were there last time! We love to take our time and chill out in the restaurant while we wait for our food. It's not super fast -- she makes every meal to order while you wait. The owner recently reprinted her menu so she's got both English and Spanish available. Ooh, and El Sazón does typically close down during school breaks (Christmas/New Year's and the two weeks around Easter) but usually there's a note telling you when she'll re-open!
