Can be hard to find, I'm asked often by people in the street as its hidden off the main Weinstrasse behind the Sparkasse Ban, just find the bank in the main street. I had a pork dish that was very tasty and very well cooked. My wife had a fantastic steak, she's fussy about steak as in quality and how well cooked > both spot on. Very nice staff too, English spoken also if you need. Not a negative, but quite small and very cozy, you could end up sharing a small table, but that's normal in Germany anyway, definately recommend to book.
If Grandma was a local lass that had spent a lifetime working to perfect the recipes handed down to her, then eating here would bring back fond childhood memories for you. If you want to sample the classic cuisine of this area in a relaxed atmosphere then this is the place for you. That fact has not been missed by the locals. It is a popular place. Service is friendly and efficient. The interior is homey and comfortable, the epitome of the small German restaurant.
We came here for a birthday party with friends. I had soup with pork dumplings followed by a rib eye steak with onions and pan fried crispy potato slices follow by handkasse and Liptaur kasse. The soup was tasty, the steak one of the best I have had in a long time and the cheese super tasty. Well done to Peter and all the staff for a great evening...
I loved the very old world feel of the dining room. I felt very at ease. I was glad a German friend was with me as I do not speak German and needed help with the menu and the ordering. The food was traditional and tasty. Comfort food for sure. The server was very friendly and helpful.
Kirchenstübl in Deidesheim Germany a great culinary discovery of a small side street. We came around 1730 without reservation, but the hostess warmly invited us to a table with the understanding that it was reserved by another party for 1900. That said we never felt hurried. Our waiter, Sathick (apologise my possibly misleading name of this gentleman) was very helpful with understanding our dinner options in view of our flowing in the German language leaves much to be desired. On the warm welcome the food was absolutely delicious. My partner had Cordon Bleu and I tried something new, soaking with sauerkraut. The atmosphere was so warm and welcoming. What a great atmosphere in which to dine and relax.
