Good food, magic naan brote! I've been a few times and always had friendly service and good food.
After a long day at work, my partner and I were looking forward to some delicious takeaway curry and decided to try Peek After India. Unfortunately, we were very disappointed. When I called to place an order, I was told they only had 2 starters available, one of which the chef didn't even make. I was only informed of this after I had already requested different starters. One of the available options wasn't even on the menu! We ordered 2 butter chickens, 1 lamb korma, garlic naan, and sweet samosas. Once we got home and tried the food, we were completely let down. The entire meal was either cold or lukewarm, and the curries were incredibly bland. The butter chicken tasted watery with an overwhelming buttery flavor, while the lamb korma was like braised lamb in a watery, milky sauce. It's worth noting that all the 5-star reviews for this restaurant seem to come from the owners' family and friends. I wish we had gone a bit further and tried the Tandoor and Curry House in Hobart instead. I would not recommend Peek After India at all - save your money and go elsewhere.
Had a fast meal on the afternoon. shop was empty. butter huh to eat. very delicious and well presented. not the best I had, but certainly not the worst.
By far the worst Indian i have eaten. My husband and i frequent Indian wherever we go, we travel a lot. The Bane Marie turned me off as soon as we walked in, not because it was in a Bane Marie, but because the food...looked extremely old and dirty. The menus were dirty and the cafe was so hot and muggy, no fan or aircon. I ordered my meal very hot as i do at every Indian restaurant and i always have a bowl of fresh chillis on the side as i like EXTREMELY HOT. when my meal came out, it had cayenne chillis in it which reacted to my asthma and my lungs almost exploded. They said it was not cayenne but there was absolutely no mistaking it. As a chef myself, i know what cayenne tastes like and my reaction to it. Apart from that, it tasted awful. I then watched the owner microwave some food from the Bane Marie and serve to my husband though we had ordered from the menu to have fresh cooked. I tasted his meal and it was terrible. We were in the process of having him get another bowl of that but there was no way i could eat that slop. Unfortunately, we do not like to seem rude, especially while being watched from behid the counter so intently so my husband ate his meal. I ate some rice that had ridiculous amounts of oil and cumin seeds in it. There was a cumin seed to each rice. We had ordered naan, he had said it was the best naan around. 1 it was not cooked in a tandoor.2 it looked and tasted like flat Turkish bread pre bought and re heated from Safeway. 3 it was smothered in butter and not in a good way. It was literally soggy with butter. I don't know where these reviews came from talking of it being authentic. Perhaps they are friends or family of the owner. It was quite literally the worst Indian food i have ever eaten. Most of my friends are from all over India and i eat with them frequently. My husband had stomach pains for the next two days. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere.
